This week, we’re speaking about zodiacal mild, the elusive, cone-shaped glow that may generally be seen pointing almost straight up from the horizon. To identify it at the moment of yr, look to the west about an hour after the Solar units and twilight dies down. The unusual sight is attributable to daylight reflecting off cosmic dust that abounds in our solar system.
Information from the spacecraft have demonstrated that each collisions between asteroids in the primary asteroid belt and particles from comets contribute to the zodiacal dust cloud, in a proportion roughly one half asteroid to a few elements comet.
