Perseverance Mars rover set to start caching samples for future return to Earth

NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover is about to drop some treasured cargo.

The car-sized Perseverance rover has been amassing samples of Martian rock, grime and air since touching down contained in the Pink Planet’s Jezero Crater in February 2021. That materials can be returned to Earth by a joint NASA-European Area Company (ESA) marketing campaign as early as 2033, if all goes in accordance with plan.
