A Lego fan obtained an early begin on launching a brand new rocket line.
Jackson Armstrong, who enjoys photographing rocket launches and constructing Lego fashions, rendered his personal model of United Launch Alliance‘s (ULA) Vulcan Centaur rocket in brick kind and shared the outcomes on Twitter Sunday (Jan. 29).
“This design options the shiny new paint scheme and the payload fairing as it’ll seem on the primary orbital flight,” wrote Armstrong (opens in new tab). That debut mission will loft two prototype web satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper, in addition to the Peregrine moon lander constructed by the corporate Astrobotic.
Armstrong didn’t share dimensions or particulars on his Lego construct, which seems to exist solely in computer-generated drawings in the intervening time. If he strikes ahead to a tabletop model, we’ll remember to let you realize.

The actual-life Vulcan Centaur rocket not too long ago made it to Florida’s Space Coast, arriving aboard ULA’s RocketShip barge on Jan. 22. The rocket is now at ULA amenities within the area “for post-arrival inspections and the beginning of launch preparations,” the corporate wrote in an announcement shortly after the arrival.
Launch is slated to happen from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station within the subsequent few months, if all goes to plan.
The (non-Lego) Vulcan Centaur is a 202-foot-tall (67 meters) rocket that may change ULA’s standard Atlas V and Delta IV rockets for business and authorities missions. Vulcan is supplied with a Centaur V higher stage and, relying on the mission, as much as six stable rocket boosters. Its first stage contains two BE-4 methane-liquid oxygen engines constructed by Blue Origin.
Whereas Lego does not (but) have an official copy of the Vulcan Centaur, it has used rockets earlier than in its units. A preferred instance is the NASA Saturn V rocket that launched astronauts to the moon; Lego’s version included 1,969 items in honor of the Apollo 11 crew that touched down on the moon in 1969.
