Beginner radio operators will be part of a robust worldwide community monitoring NASA’s Orion spacecraft after it launches towards the moon this month.

The chosen volunteers, together with two people within the newbie radio group, will “show whether or not they can obtain Orion’s sign, and use their respective floor antennas to passively monitor and measure modifications within the radio waves transmitted by Orion,” NASA officers mentioned in a statement (opens in new tab) on Monday (Oct. 31).

NASA collected the proposals in a Request for Information (opens in new tab) launched in August.
