Astronomers spot the exposed inner core of an ‘oddball’ star by accident

The uncovered core of a large star has been noticed for the primary time, a discovery that has been described as purely “serendipitous” by the crew that chanced upon it.

Although the cores of stars are the place the overwhelming majority of stellar power is generated by the nuclear fusion of hydrogen into helium, they’re often obscured by the brilliant outer materials that encases them. Stellar cores are uncovered solely in uncommon and very short-lived circumstances.
