The space fan’s guide to the US midterm elections 2022

The U.S. midterm elections of 2022 are on Tuesday (Nov. 8), and a number of other key races have the potential to affect space coverage for years to come back.

In the US, space coverage is essentially contingent upon the laws of the 2 homes of Congress: the Senate and the Home of Representatives. Whereas the chief department, which incorporates the president and vp, can draft space laws, it’s the U.S. Congress that finally votes on the funding for NASA and the U.S. Division of Protection’s space applications. Two committees particularly, the House Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics (opens in new tab) and the Senate Subcommittee on Science and Space (opens in new tab), have jurisdiction over nationwide space coverage, NASA and its related laboratories, and each home and worldwide U.S. space coverage.
