DARPA developing small vertical-takeoff aircraft for military use


The U.S. Protection Superior Analysis Initiatives Company, or DARPA, is looking for to develop a revolutionary new vertical takeoff and touchdown (VTOL) plane.

This system is called AdvaNced airCraft Infrastructure-Much less Launch And RecoverY X-Airplane, or ANCILLARY. The ANCILLARY program goals to develop a “leap-ahead” craft that may land and take off in areas with out preexisting air bases or different infrastructure, function in opposed climate situations, and even deploy from the decks of naval vessels with out specialised launch and restoration gear. DARPA has not said if this system is meant to develop a crewed or uncrewed craft, however a video launched by the company depicts pilots working the craft with a pill, implying a remotely piloted or autonomous vehicle.
